Vasek Pospisil takes break from tennis: I'll be out due to health reasons

Vasek Pospisil has announced that he will be out of action for the next three to four months due to health reasons. Pospisil, 32, competed at this week's Cherbourg Challenger. During his first-round match, Pospisil was caught on camera telling his coach: "I don't want to play tennis anymore, man.

I'm so sick of this f------ sport." Pospisil, who was scheduled to play in the Marseille qualifying event this weekend, pulled out of the tournament and announced he would be out for the next couple of months. "Due to health reasons, I will be off the tour for the next 3-4 months.

Tough news but this is part of the journey. Hope to be back in competition soon. Will take this time to work on other projects and enjoy time with friends & family. Thank you for the support as always," Pospisil wrote on Twitter.

Pospisil's 2023 season

In the first week of the season, Pospisil attempted to make the Adelaide 1 main draw through the qualifying event but failed to do after losing in the qualifying final round.

The following week, Pospisil was beaten in the first round of the Adelaide 2 qualifying event. After failing to qualify for Adelaide 1 and Adelaide 2, Pospisil suffered a first-round defeat at the Australian Open. In late January, Pospisil picked up his fourth consecutive defeat after losing to Gijs Brouwer in the Quimper Challenger first round.

In early February, Pospisil ended his four-match losing streak as he made the Koblenz Challenger final before losing to Roman Safiullin. This week, Pospisil was the top-seeded player at the Cherbourg Challenger. But Pospisil's run in Cherbourg was a very short one as he suffered a 6-4 7-6 (5) loss to Mats Morain in the first round.

Pospisil, a former world No 25, is now ranked at No 111 in the world. It remains to be seen when will Pospisil get back on the court.
