Daniil Medvedev revealed his four-months-old daughter started smiling when his wife placed her in front of the TV following the Russian's semifinal win in Rotterdam. On Sunday, Medvedev defeated Jannik Sinner in the Rotterdam final 5-7 6-2 6-2 to win his first title of the season.

During his on-court interview, Medvedev said he was hoping his wife would do the same thing she did a day earlier. "Yesterday, my wife told me that when I was giving the speech on court she put my daughter, who's 4 months old, in front of the TV and she started smiling and laughing.

I hope she is doing this again today!" Medvedev said during his on-court interview, per Relevant Tennis.

Medvedev wins his first Rotterdam title

This past week, Medvedev was playing in Rotterdam for the fifth time in his career.

After suffering back-to-back Rotterdam first-round losses in 2020 and 2021, Medvedev returned to the tournament this year and made it all the way. “I first came here in [2018] and I straightaway loved it here. I love coming back here.

The last two times I played here were terrible and I’m happy to make it better this year," Medvedev also said on the court. Medvedev didn't get off to a good start to the Rotterdam final as he got broken in the fourth game.

Down by an early break, Medvedev managed to get the break back in the seventh game. But in the 12th game - when Medvedev was serving to stay in the first set - he missed out on a game point as Sinner broke the Russian to win the first set.

After losing the first set, Medvedev bounced back as he broke Sinner in the first and fifth games of the second set to easily win the set and send the match into a decider. In the third set, Medvedev again broke Sinner twice to complete a comeback win over the Italian.
