Justine Henin shares thoughts on 'spicy' Daniil Medvedev-Alexander Zverev drama

Justine Henin says "it is getting spicy" between Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev as the Belgian tennis legend hopes the two tennis stars can talk and squash their beef. On Thursday, Medvedev outlasted Zverev in a three-hour Monte Carlo Masters thriller with a 3-6 7-5 7-6 (7) score.

After the match, Zverev shared some very strong words about Medvedev, calling the Russian "one of the most unfair players in the world." Medvedev hit back at Zverev, suggesting the German should look at himself in the mirror and realize he is "not Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev or Diego Schwartzman" - those three are considered one of the nicest and most fair players.

Henin on the Medvedev-Zverev drama

“Things are getting spicy. It’s going to be interesting, everyone is talking about this thing between Zverev and Medvedev. It happened already in the 80s with other players, and it was nice.

These days it looks like it’s gonna be a big story, so let’s talk about that. They don’t really like each other, they proved that. They communicate with the press, the players now, will they talk together? I still think it’s going to be the best that they talk together and bring back from the past.

But maybe they like it, so maybe it’s the reason. I don’t think it was unfair but we know Daniil admits he’s human, sometimes he’s not perfect. He talked about Diego Schwartzman, I think it’s more [serious] with Zverev.

Daniil sometimes can get frustrated, upset, and we don’t understand. He’s original, it’s how he expresses his feelings. I don’t want to blame him, it’s not that bad. Him as a player, his personality.

Let them talk together," Henin told Eurosport. In the Monte Carlo round-of-16, Zverev missed out on multiple chances to beat Medvedev. After failing to serve out for the match in the second, Zverev also failed to serve out for the match in the third set.

In the third-set tie-break, Zverev missed out on two match points as Medvedev realized his first match point to complete a big comeback win.
