Alcaraz defends a Masters title for the first time in his career
Last year, Alcaraz won his second Masters title after beating Alexander Zverev in the Madrid final.
This year, Alcaraz returned to Caja Magica and defended a Masters title for the first time in his career. Now, Alcaraz has his eyes set on making a victorious debut at the Rome Masters. "I have never played in Rome, so it's gonna be my first time playing Rome.
I really want to play there. I missed last year. So this is a tournament that I looking for since I was kid. I don't know how it's gonna be, Rome. I don't know the feelings over there, but for sure I'm gonna enjoy that tournament.
Of course it's great to play in front of the Italian crowd again," Alcaraz said after winning Madrid. Meanwhile, Alcaraz now has four titles in 2023 and overall 10 titles in his collection. Of those 10 titles, one has come at the Grand Slam level and four have been achieved at the Masters level.
"I am an ambitious guy and I'm going full for the win in Rome. What I am achieving is something big. I just have won my 10th title, my fourth Masters 1000, back-to-back titles here in Madrid and very close to reclaiming the number one world spot.
It's a special moment and I'm very proud of what I am accomplishing. The work I'm putting in," Alcaraz said. It remains to be seen if Alcaraz can now also win the Rome title.
