Denis Shapovalov very openly voiced his frustration with Radu Albot's actions toward the end of the first set of their Wimbledon first-round match. With both players tied to five games apiece in the first set, Albot had two consecutive break points on Shapovalov's service.

Apparently, Albot started quickly changing his return position before Shapovalov hit a double fault that handed the Moldovan qualifier a break and a 6-5 lead. Shapovalov wasn't happy at all with Albot's actions, suggesting it was else but a dirty tactic.

"He's jumping around like this, I mean it's a joke, nobody does that, it's an absolute joke that you're doing this. I'll start doing the same and then we can have a party over here. I mean, it's not fair, that's not tennis.

The sole purpose of this is to distract me, that's just hindrance," Shapovalov was heard complaining to the chair umpire. After claiming the first break of the match in the 11th game for a 6-5 lead, Albot served out for the first set in the following game.

Early in the second set, Albot broke Shapovalov in the third game to go up by a break. Down by a set and a break, Shapovalov managed to get the break back in the fourth game and tie the second set to two games apiece. Then, the rain suspended the match.

Shapovalov and Albot were scheduled to continue their first-round match on Tuesday but the rain had other plans. Now, Shapovalov and Albot are scheduled to continue their match on Wednesday, two days after starting it. This match is the third meeting between Shapovalov and Albot.

Previously, Albot defeated Shapovalov in 2020 Sofia before the Canadian beat the Moldovan in Seoul last year. In their Wimbledon match, Albot is in a better position since he is up by a set against Shapovalov. It remains to be seen if Shapovalov can recover from a set down against Albot when their match continues.
