Andrey Rublev is the fifth qualifier for the ATP Finals in Turin. The Russian tennis player achieved his goal by beating Matteo Arnaldi with a score of 7-5, 6-3 in the round of 16 of the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna. The Moscow native is having the best season of his career.

A season in which he won the first Masters 1000 of his career in Monte Carlo and reached the quarter-finals in three out of four Slams. Rublev managed to show greater clarity in the important moments of the match with Arnaldi and brought home a victory with a special means.

The Russian was good at canceling out a break point in the seventh game thanks to a winning serve and not letting himself be influenced by the wasted set point at 5-4 by sending a passer wide who was not impossible.

Arnaldi stopped one step away from the tie-break when he did not cover the net well and gave up the serve. Just one break made the difference in the second half of the game. Strengthened by the advantage gained, Rublev surprised Arnaldi in response at the opening by finding a fantastic lob.

The Russian was in difficulty only once in his serves, but did not allow the Italian any counter-break opportunities. "It's great news. It's fantastic. I didn't know that if I won today, I would have mathematically qualified.

I can't wait to play the Finals and take part in this tournament for another year," commented Rublev at the end of the meeting with Arnaldi at the ATP microphones. His opponent in the quarterfinals of the Erste Bank Open will be Alexander Zverev.

The Russian joined Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner. There are still three places available for tennis players competing in the last tournaments of the season. The main suspects to put their name on the list are certainly Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Instead it will be a brawl between Holger Rune, Taylor Fritz, Hubert Hurkacz and Casper Ruud; while Alex de Minaur and Karen Khachanov have not yet lost hope, at least on paper.
