Andrey Rublev confirmed his knee was fine after a shocking ATP Finals outburst and admitted he was disappointed over not managing his frustration better. On Wednesday, world No 5 Rublev played against Carlos Alcaraz at the ATP Finals in Turin.

After Alcaraz won a tight first set with a 7-5 scoreline and also broke Rublev in the first game of the second set, Rublev got extremely frustrated and started hitting hit knee with his racket. After six hits to his knee, the knee got bloodied and the Russian required a medical intervention.

Rublev continued the match as Alcaraz went on to claim a 7-5 6-2 win. “It’s OK. I get disappointed and couldn’t manage," Rublev said afterward.

Rublev: Disappointing I wasn't able to manage my frustration better

After picking up a straight-set to Daniil Medvedev in his ATP Finals opener, Rublev entered the Alcaraz in a must-win situation.

When Rublev started inching toward a defeat, his frustration boiled. “It’s not easy to take these defeats because I really wanted to finish the season well. Sometimes, when things don’t work out, it’s inevitable to be disappointed and today, I didn’t know how to handle it.

No matter who I face, I never want to lose and even more so since the season is over and I haven’t been able to show the best of myself in this tournament. It’s very disappointing that I was not able to manage my frustration better," Rublev said.

By falling to a 0-2 record, Rublev lost all of his chances of reaching the semifinal in Turin. However, Rublev's ATP Finals run still isn't over as the Russian still has to play Alexander Zverev in his final group-stage match.

Against Zverev, Rublev will be playing for his dignity as the Russian will try to clinch at least one win and avoid going 0-3 in Turin this year.
