Comparing tennis eras is usually fruitless, with too many differences separating the players from the past from the current stars. Boris Becker and Nick Kyrgios embraced a dispute, exchanging harsh words. The German blasted the Aussie, questioning Nick's credibility to discuss the topic after failing to achieve much.

Becker advised Kyrgios to stay focused on his Only Fans campaign and leave tennis alone. Boris repeated it's impossible to compare rivalries like Rod Laver versus Roger Federer, Bjorn Borg versus Rafael Nadal and Pete Sampras versus Novak Djokovic.

The German's message came after the Aussie's words about tennis from a few decades ago. Kyrgios shared his thoughts about the game from the 80s and 90s, saying the players and the pace were very slow. Nick mentioned Boris and stated it would have been impossible for a six-time Major winner to repeat that success today with a serve & volley play.

Kyrgios introduced Novak Djokovic to his story, saying the Serb would eat the players from the past alive, mainly thanks to his incredible return. For Kyrgios, Lleyton Hewitt's US Open win over Pete Sampras was a prototype of a current player capable of returning any serve thrown at him.

Based on that, Kyrgios predicted a commanding win for Djokovic over Sampras. Nick is currently unranked for the first time since 2012, playing one match in 2023 and struggling with a knee injury.

The Aussie will not compete at the home Major in January, withdrawing from the Australian Open and extending his break from tennis. Kyrgios underwent surgery at the beginning of the year and returned to action in Stuttgart, losing to Yibing Wu in straight sets.

"Nick makes a lot of noise about tennis lately!?! Why does he speak about a sport he apparently hates… fact-check, Nick has never won a Major championship as a player or coach( yes, one in doubles), so where is any credibility coming from? Trying to compare generations… Laver v Federer , Borg v Nadal , Sampras v Djokovic!?!

I am not even going to mention McEnroe, Connors ,Lendl, Agassi, Courier, Edberg, Wilander, Kuerten, Bruguera, Rafter, Hewitt and many more… speak to your Only fans and many things, but tennis," Boris Becker said.
