Tennys Sandgren had a hilarious response for an angry bettor who accused him of fixing a match on Tuesday, blaming "gematria" for his surprise loss.

Sandgren, a two-time Australian Open quarterfinalist, clashed against world No. 1193 Trevor Svajda on Tuesday at the Indian Wells Challenger, Sandgren, now ranked at No. 266 in the world, won the opening set with a bagel before Svajda came back to win 0-6 7-6 (4) 7-6 (3) their first-round match.

A user on X who goes by the handle of SerbianGematria and offers "scripted sports & events by gematria," called Sandgren "one of the most blatant tennis fixers." Gematria, a form of numerology, is a system of assigning numeric values to letters or words. When two words or phrases have the same numerical value, this may indicate a connection.

"Former top 100 player and one of most blatant fixers tennis - Tennys Sandgren, that does it casually every few matches. He is 266th rank and he just ended match against 1194th ranked player. He won 6-0 first set, and guess what? He forgot to play after!" the post read.

Reacting to the post, Sandgren mockingly blamed Gematria for his loss: "Gematria dif."

Sandgren mocks a bettor: Everything is rigged by gematria

In another post, the bettor wrote: "Also all Sports are rigged for betting, mainstream ones are rigged by Gematria and perfect number lineups. I know you have no clue about that most likely, you were never on such spot in career."

Responding to that claim, Sandgren wrote: "There it is. All sport rigged by gematria LOL."

Sandgren, who was a regular participant in the main-level events for a couple of years, has never been accused of match-fixing or suspended by the tennis authorities.
