Daniil Medvedev highlights he will likely need to deliver "a perfect match" to beat Carlos Alcaraz but also hints he has an idea of how to beat the Spaniard as the Russian plans to play close to the line and try to get into the 20-year-old's head with some great shots.

On Sunday, No. 3 seed Medvedev will be fighting against second-seeded Alcaraz for this year's Indian Wells title. What's interesting about the match is that it will be a rematch of last year's Indian Wells final, in which Alcaraz crushed Medvedev 6-3 6-2.

After beating Alcaraz in their first meeting at 2021 Wimbledon, Medvedev suffered back-to-back straight-set defeats to the world No. 2 in Indian Wells and Wimbledon last year. Because of that, Medvedev wasn't really being given much of a chance to beat Alcaraz in the 2023 US Open semifinal but he did exactly that, ousting the Spaniard 7-6 (3) 6-1 3-6 6-3.

Following a 1-6 7-6 (3) 6-2 semifinal win over Tommy Paul, Medvedev was asked if he would need to play perfectly against Medvedev and with the mindset that he must give 1"0 out of 10, 11 out of 10, 13 out of 10."

"That's the way I entered the match with Carlos in the US Open, also," Medvedev said.

"I still feel this way, especially on this court, I think today he showed exactly why I personally think this court suits him perfectly. Little slow bounce from time to time to give him time, and he doesn't care about wind here and that the ball doesn't travel through the air.

"If I want to win, I will try to see what can I do tactically, but then I have to go there, a little bit like Tommy did today, try to play on the line, try to hit some amazing shots, get into his head, and try to win like this."

Today, Medvedev will be playing for his first title since the 2023 Rome Masters while Alcaraz will be hoping to win his first title since Wimbledon.
