Carlos Alcaraz issued a very promising update following his opening match at Roland Garros as the world No. 3 says he believes he can state that he is "fully recovered."

After the Sunshine Double, Alcaraz missed the Monte Carlo Masters, Barcelona and the Rome Masters due to a right forearm injury. Leading up to the French Open, Alcaraz was able to only play at the Madrid Masters - and since he later pulled out of Rome - there were certain fears that the Spanish tennis superstar may be forced to miss the French Open.

But on Sunday, the two-time Grand Slam champion kicked off his French Open campaign and did it in a dominant way as he ousted JJ Wolf 6-1 6-2 6-1.

“I think my arm is 100%. Obviously, I still feel weird, let’s say, or I’m afraid to hit all the forehands 100 percent. It’s still in my mind, but I didn’t feel anything after the game, I didn’t feel anything, which is really, really good for me. So I can say that I am fully recovered," Alcaraz said in his post-match press conference.

Alcaraz: My French Open expectations have gone up

Against Wolf, Alcaraz was absolutely dominant from the start until the finish. On paper, it was the best possible start Alcaraz could have made and he didn't hide his happiness after the match.

“Honestly, I didn’t have a lot of expectations coming into this tournament, but after the week of training, after this first round, the confidence is greater. My expectations probably went up after today’s game, but let’s see. All I can say is that I feel good on the court. I feel very good in this match, so I hope to continue," Alcaraz said.

Now, Alcaraz will take on qualifier world No. 176 Jesper de Jong in the French Open second round, who defeated Jack Draper. In what will be his first meeting versus de Jong, Alcaraz will be the huge favorite and will certainly be aiming to clinch another great win.
