Matteo Berrettini did not stop and reached the semifinals in Stuttgart, beating Australian Jordan Duckworth. With a solid showing, the Italian secured the challenge in the penultimate act of the tournament with compatriot Lorenzo Musetti, who benefited from the withdrawal of Alexander Bublik.

The Italian tennis player once again confirmed his effectiveness on grass. One figure in particular testifies to this reality: 7 quarters played on this surface, 7 matches won. Important numbers for Berrettini, who tomorrow will play his third semifinal in Stuttgart, a tournament he won in both 2021 and 2022.

Matteo also managed to win twice at Queen's, a historic tournament played a few days before Wimbledon.

Former world number 6 Matteo Berrettini seemed particularly satisfied after this performance: “I think it was a really solid performance from me, especially on serve where I had a good rhythm and never conceded break points, but also on return I always tried to return in the court and put pressure on my opponent”.

Then he is asked why he is so effective on grass. Matteo first answers in a funny way, then goes into detail: “You should ask your opponents (laughs). No, I think for my main weapons obviously, like the serve and the slice.

Playing aggressive on this surface pays off, but it is essential above all to play well in the important moments. Then every time I step on the court on grass, I feel good and I would like to play for hours", he concluded.

Berrettini has already won one tournament this year in Marrakech, but otherwise he has been constantly struggling with physical problems and situations that have forced him to stay in the pits and skip tournaments on clay such as Rome and Roland Garros.

Matteo returned to play on his grass and after some initial struggles he found his footing and reached the semifinals of the Atp tournament in Stuttgart. Thanks to this result Matteo gained an impressive 21 positions in the Atp ranking and is now close to the Top 70.
