Emma Raducanu and Andy Murray will not team up for the Wimbledon mixed doubles. Emma withdrew a few hours ahead of their first-round duel, citing her right wrist as the reason to skip the mixed doubles and focus on her singles duties.

Thus, Andy Murray's career at Majors is over, playing his last match alongside his brother Jamie two days ago. The Murray brothers fell to Rinky Hijikata and John Peers on Centre Court, and it will stand as Andy's final match at Majors following Raducanu's decision.

Emma woke up on Saturday with stiffness in her right wrist and had to make a tough decision. She withdrew from the mixed doubles, leaving Andy without that final chance to compete in front of the home fans again.

It would have been Murray's first Wimbledon mixed doubles event since 2019, when he joined forces with another legend, Serena Williams.

The veteran will most likely end his career at the upcoming Olympic Games, entering the singles and doubles draw in Paris. Andy missed the singles action at Wimbledon following a procedure on his back to remove a spinal cyst.

After struggling with injuries for years, Murray decided to end his career this season, failing to compete injury-free and not willing to suffer more at this stage of his career. Unlike Andy, Emma is making a name for herself in the singles draw, passing three rivals and entering the last 16 at the All England Club for the second time.

Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu will not compete in the Wimbledon mixed doubles.

Raducanu entered her third Wimbledon and defeated Renata Zarazua 7-6, 6-3 in the first round in just under two hours.

The home star defended four out of five break points and delivered two breaks. Raducanu stormed over her opponent in the tie break of the opening set and delivered a crucial break in the sixth game of the second set that carried her home.

Emma held at love in game nine, sealing the deal in style and moving into the second round. Emma played even better against Elise Mertens, ousting the Belgian 6-1, 6-2 in an hour and 15 minutes. The Briton lost only 14 points behind the initial shot and saved both break points.

Mertens felt the pressure and cracked under it, losing half of the points in her games and suffering four breaks from 13 chances offered to the home star.

Raducanu grabbed the opening five games of the opening set and brought it home in under 40 minutes. She served well in the second set and stole Mertens' serve in games three and five for a comfortable win and a place in the last 32.

Emma met the 9th seed Maria Sakkari in the third round and delivered another rock-solid performance. The young gun earned a 6-2, 6-3 triumph, reaching the last 16 for the second time in a career. Raducano sealed the deal in an hour and 32 minutes, outplaying Sakkari behind the second serve and in the pivotal moments.

The Briton defended all seven break points and mounted the pressure on the other side. Emma grabbed almost half of the return points, turning them into four breaks from nine chances and moving over the top in style. Raducanu will face Lulu Sun in the fourth round, having a massive opportunity to reach the quarter-final and remain on the title course.
