Jannik Sinner is perhaps the main favorite to win the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. The Italian is experiencing the best season of his young career, silencing the detractors and proving to be an authentic predestined. After impressing everyone in the latter part of last year, Jannik won the Australian Open in early 2024 and never stopped.

Sinner has already won four titles this year (Australian Open, Rotterdam, Miami and Halle), outstanding achievements that have allowed him to become the world’s number 1 with a wide margin on other players. The young Italian lost only three matches in 2024: at Indian Wells against Carlos Alcaraz, at Montecarlo against Stefanos Tsitsipas and at the French Open against Alcaraz.

The 22-year-old Italian is the player who has expressed the best tennis in the first week of Wimbledon, despite a very complicated scoreboard. Jannik faced fellow countryman Matteo Berrettini (finalist at Church Road in 2021) in the second round and Ben Shelton in the last 16, canceling four set points in the third set.

Jannik Sinner will face Daniil Medvedev

His next opponent will be the Russian Daniil Medvedev, who took advantage of Grigor Dimitrov’s retirement after just 35 minutes due to a knee injury. The Russian has improved a lot on grass in recent years and reached the semi-final in London last year (lost sharply against Alcaraz).

Medvedev won his first six matches against Jannik Sinner, but was defeated on the last five occasions. The Russian was up two sets to zero in the 2024 Australian Open final, before suffering the Italian comeback. The Italian and the Russian also faced each other in the semi-final of the Masters 1000 in Miami 2024, with a clear victory for Sinner.

Sinner has been solid at Wimbledon so far and wants to win the second Slam of his young career. The Italian knows that it will not be easy to beat Medvedev: "I expect a complicated match, he is playing better and better on this surface. It will be a very tactical one in which there will be several long exchanges. He will definitely try something different than in the last few games."

The Russian hopes to return to beating Sinner after some time: "Although I lost the last five times, most of those matches were very balanced. The exception was the match in Miami, where he dominated. It will be our first match on grass and I will do everything possible to surprise him and create difficulties. I know it won’t be easy, Jannik has been playing great for several months, but I’ve always played well against the numbers 1."

In addition to winning many titles and becoming the World number 1, Jannik Sinner is happy even off the field. The Italian started a good relationship with tennis player Anna Kalinskaya, with whom he seems very happy. The two players have a great feeling and their relationship is helping them to express themselves on the tennis court.

Maria Braccini slams Jannik Sinner

Meanwhile, Maria Braccini - Sinner’s ex-girlfriend - broke the silence on Instagram by also throwing a shot at Jannik. "On social media I never talked about myself, I never shared anything about my private life or what I did" - wrote Braccini. "Over the last few years I’ve been working hard to make one of my biggest dreams come true. I was patient, I studied, I was rejected, but I never stopped believing in it and working to improve myself, silently not to have easy roads. I made a journey to put my signature on a very important piece of paper for me and that marks the beginning of a new and long journey. And then... how do you say it? For every door that closes there is always another that opens" - added the model.

The 2024 Australian Open champion has decided not to respond to this provocation and remains focused on the Wimbledon Championships. If he beats Medvedev in the quarterfinals, Jannik could face Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals. The Spaniard will face Tommy Paul in the quarterfinals, in a match more insidious than can be expected. "I never think about any matches, I’m just focused on Medvedev right now. I have a very complicated match ahead of me, but I’m glad I made it to the quarter-finals and I can’t wait to play."

After years of learning, Sinner seems to have found the perfect balance between career and private life. The Italian worked very physically and completed technically, becoming a nightmare for most players. After their match at Wimbledon, Ben Shelton admitted that he was impressed with Jannik’s performance and his ability to move on grass. The World number 1 has also greatly improved service, which had often been its weakness in recent years. After Wimbledon, Sinner’s next big goal will be the Paris Olympics where he hopes to win the gold medal.
