Roger Federer begins his Dubai title defence in style!

Roger Federer began his title defence at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships with a near-perfect start against Mikhail Youzhny in the opening round. The Swiss won in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 and thoroughly outplayed the Russian, from start to finish.
He converted four out of seven brea points and didn’t give any opportunities to Youzhny to make inroads into his own serve. The 17-time grand slam champion won 83% of his first serves as compared to Youzhny’s 44%, and hit eight aces and two double faults.
