Just four months into the season and it’s been curtains for the newly formed partnership of Daniel Nestor and Rohan Bopanna. The duo, who won two titles at the start of the year, at the Sydney Open and the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, were however unable to do much in the bigger events, including the two opening Masters 1000 events.
At Indian Wells, the pair lost in the second round to the Spanish team of David Ferrer and Fernando Verdasco, while at Miami, they lost in the first round to the American team of John Isner and Sam Querrey. It proved to be catalytic for the team’s continuance and given what has emerged, it seems that the 42-year old Canadian felt like he wanted a change.
Following the team’s end of partnership, the 35-year old Indian will partner Romanian doubles player, Florian Merga. The duo will make their first appearance as a team in the upcoming tournament at Casablanca. It still however is unknown as to who the Canadian will be teaming up with.
Starting with a new doubles partner from Monday onwards.
