Gerry Weber Open´s Biggest Upset in Doubles Event

The Unseeded Klaasen and Ram beat the top seed Julien Roger and Tecau in the Super Tie-break 11-9. Klaasen and Ram played brilliant doubles to put top seed out of the tournament. A tough fight from both teams led to thrilling semi-final which Klaasen and Ram won 7-6(5), 3-6, 11-9.

In the first set both the teams held there serves which led to the tie breaker. Klaasen and Ram got a mini break and won 7-5 in the tie-break. First set was won by Klaasen and Ram 7-6(5). In the second set the top seed showed its class and broke the unseeded to take the upper hand.

Only one break occurred in the set with 8 hold games which led the top seed win second set 6-3. In doubles it’s the super tie-break instead of 3rd set and tie-break is anybody’s game. The tie-break went very interesting as both teams were trying their best to somehow win the match.

In the end the unseeded Klaasen and Ram took a huge risk which got in their favor and summed up the match by winning 11-9 in the Super tie-break. The unseeded team served well which was the key of their winning. They hit 5 aces and won 82% points on first serve.

The only break in the match was done by top seed in the second set. If Klaasen and Ram play final like semi-final they can lift Halle’s tittle this year.
