It only needs to be official the return of the Lyon event on the ATP Tour. The tournament, that disappeared in 2009, will replace Nice in the calendar and will be played from 20 to 27 May 2017 in the same week as Geneva. The Curious thing is that there are only 149 kilometres of distance between the two tournaments! 'I think it never happened in the history something like this', said Geneva tournament director Rainer Schuttler, adding there will be no problems.
ATP Nice disappears from the calendar for the first time since 2010. The event did not take place also from 1996 to 2009. The main reason of the relocation is given by the fact that the current club hosting the event cannot be expanded.
There were rumours also about Tony Parker being the new owner of the tournament, however the current tournament director Jean Francois Caujolle had denied it a few weeks ago. Story by TennisActu
