Two weeks after Miami, the action on the ATP Tour will continue with clay events in Houston and Marrakech, and the organizers of the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship at River Oaks Country Club have announced that last year's semi-finalist Ernesto Escobedo and 2014 quarter-finalist Dustin Brown have received main draw wild cards. Escobedo had a great run here 12 months ago, beating Tennys Sandgren, Thiago Monteiro and John Isner in an amazing match with three tie breaks before losing to Thomaz Bellucci in his first ATP semi-final.
The young American had solid results recently, winning a match in New York, Acapulco and Indian Wells and he will try to go even further in Houston. 33-year-old Dustin Brown is currently ranked 151st and he will seek the first ATP win of the season and the fourth in Houston form his third coming to River Oaks Country Club.
Ernesto and Dustin will join a strong field of players, led by Kevin Anderson, Jack Sock, Sam Querrey, John Isner and Fernando Verdasco, and we should get some great encounters right from the opening round.
“Ernesto and Dustin are players who have enjoyed success here at River Oaks in the past,” said Tournament Director Bronwyn Greer. “We look forward to welcoming them back and are thankful for the opportunity to add them to our already deep field.”ALSO READ: ATP Miami: Tiafoe, Kokkinakis, Johnson and Medvedev all reach round two
