Former world No. 7 Mardy Fish believes that Austrian Dominic Thiem will win multiple French Open titles before he retires from the game. Thiem, 24, ended runner-up to world No. 1 Rafael Nadal in this year's French Open final as he lost 6-4 6-3 6-2.
The Austrian, who was a semi-finalist at Roland Garros in 2016 and 2017, was playing his first-ever Grand Slam final. Nadal was the one who beat the Austrian in the 2017 French Open semi-final. Thiem is the only player who has managed to beat Nadal on clay since 2016.
The Austrian defeated the Spaniard in Rome last year and in Madrid this year, respectively. Yet, the 24-year-old just couldn't pull off a major upset and become the first player to beat Nadal in a French Open final. Nadal now has 11 French Open titles in his highly-successful collection.
"Dom Thiem will win the French at least three times," Fish wrote on Twitter during the final. Also read: Returning James Ward looks forward to Nottingham Challenger campaign
