Dolgopolov upsets Ferrer in Nice

After a very lackluster clay court season, Alex Dolgopolov made up for it with an inspiring win over David Ferrer. The first set was pretty evenly matched, with Dolgopolov pulling it out 6-4. Then, Ferrer played a little better in the second set while Dolgopolov's level dropped off severely.

Dolgo had 3 winners and 18 errors in the second set! Ferrer cruised to a 6-1 set. The third set was a battle with Dolgopolov serving clutch and striking some fantastic winners to close it out 7-5 in the third. A huge win for Dolgopolov and a disappointing loss for Ferrer going into Roland Garros.

Dolgopolov will play Victor Hanescu in the semifinals. The Romanian has made his first semi of the year here, beating Robin Haase 6-2 in the first set before Haase rolled his ankle early in the second and retired at 0-2. Haase injury didn't appear too serious, and he should be good to go for Roland Garros.
