Murray breezes, Soderling fights

World number 4 Andy Murray had an easy go of it in the opening round, beating French qualifier Eric Prodon 6-4, 6-1, 6-3. Murray as usual was solid but unspectacular in his win, doing what he needed to do to get the victory.

The story was Prodon and his awesome drop shots, which caught Murray off guard many a time. But Murray stayed the course and finished it off in straights. Robin Soderling, world number 5, was expecting to play against Benjamin Becker, but the German withdrew prior to the start of the tournament and was replaced by Lucky Loser American Ryan Harrison.

The 19 year old put up a surprisingly good showing, pushing Soderling to 7-5 in the 4th and Harrison had chances to take it to a 5th set. But Soderling played too good when it mattered most and smashed an ace out wide to take the match, 6-1, 6-7(5), 6-3, 7-5.
