ATP Roland Garros- Nadal escapes again

After a 5 set tussle with Isner in the first round, many thought Nadal would play better against Andujar. Not so much. The cooler, damper conditions slowed the courts down and Nadal's forehand especially was dropping very short, which allowed Andujar to take control of some of these rallies.

Andujar also attacked Rafa's 2nd serve and put all kinds of pressure on Nadal. The first two sets were scratchy from Nadal, but he eventually got his act together to win them both 7-5, 6-3. Then in the third, Andujar played better and Nadal played worse, Andujar going up 5-1! Andujar had 8 set points from then on, but Nadal dug in, fought, and battled his way to a tiebreak, where Andujar fought well, but Rafa was simply too tough.

In other news, 3 qualifiers also advanced today. Leonardo Mayer took out the 27 seed Marcos Baghdatis in straights, Lukasz Kubot defeated Carlos Berlocq, and Alejandro Falla upset the 20 seed Funky Flo Mayer.
