Philipp Kohlschreiber pulled off a minor upset in dispatching 7th seed Alexandr Dolgopolov today, 6-3, 7-6(5). Dolgopolov hasn't played well in some time, and Kohli took full advantage. The wily veteran Lleyton Hewitt came through 6-4 6-4 against Italian Andreas Seppi.
Hewitt has still got some game left in him and Seppi offered little resistance after the first set. Funky Florian Mayer the 6 seed battled for a 3 set win over Wimbledon 2010 Roddick vanquisher Yen Hsun Lu by a score of 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-4.
This is good for the tournament after Federer's withdrawl with each German victory. Gael Monfils also got himself a win, easily beating Ivan Dodig 6-2, 6-3. Monfils is making the grass transition nicely after a fine run to the quarters of Roland Garros. It will be Hewitt-Kohlschreiber and Mayer-Monfils matchups tomorrow.
