Joao Sousa, Filip Krajinovic withdraw from Kitzbuhel

Portugal's Joao Sousa and Filip Krajinovic of Serbia have both withdrawn from the Generali Open in Kitzbuhel. Sousa, 30, won't be making his second appearance on the clay courts of Kitzbuhel this year. Sousa, ranked at No.

49 in the world, debuted at the Kitzbuhel event in 2017. Back then, the Portuguese almost had a perfect debut at the Austrian clay-court event. The 30-year-old fell just short of winning it all in his maiden appearance as he ended runner-up in the final to German Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Sousa is having a great week in Gstaad as he has been through to the semifinal. The Portuguese came from a set down to shock No. 1 seed Roberto Bautista Agut 4-6 6-3 7-5 in the Gstaad quarterfinal. On the other side, 27-year-old Krajinovic won't be making his Kitzbuhel debut this year.

Sousa and Krajinovic will be replaced in Kitzbuhel by world No. 186 Jozef Kovalik and rising Spanish star Jaume Munar. Kovalik is set to make his second main draw appearance in Kitzbuhel. Kovalik debuted in Kitzbuhel last year, when he lost to Radu Albot in the first round.

Munar also debuted in Kitzbuhel last year as he made the semifinal before losing to Martin Klizan. The Generali Open will take place next week.
