The plan is to plan both semis and the final in Eastbourne today. Andreas Seppi had a tough time with Igor Kunitsyn in a windy match. Seppi took the first 6-4, but dropped the second 2-6. In the third, Seppi had a double break lead at 3-0, but was broken and at 3-2, had to save 3 break points.
He managed to hold, however, and it went on serve thereafter to take it 6-4 in the third. In the other semifinal, Janko Tipsarevic scored his 4th win over Kei Nishikori this year. Tipsarevic seems to have his number. Tipsarevic served well and appears to be on a mission to take his first ATP title.
Nishikori, however, was very bad. Missing serve returns, serving at an abysmal percentage, not adapting to the wind at all, and generally showing not much heart. Perhaps he wanted to get to Wimbledon quickly. Now we have a matchup of two guys who have never won an ATP title.
There is a first time for everything. Tipsarevic is the favorite according to the book makers, and he has a 3-0 career record vs. Seppi.
