Defending champion Nikoloz Basilashvili and world No. 24 Diego Schwartzman have been added to a star-studded China Open player field, per Michal Samulski. Basilashvili, ranked at No. 17 in the world, is set to make his third consecutive main draw appearance in Beijing as he will be aiming to make yet another deep at the tournament and potentially defend his title.
The 27-year-old Georgian didn't impress in his first two Beijing appearances as he was beaten in the qualifying final round in 2016 and picked up a first round loss in 2017 respectively, but then made a splash last year after stunning Juan Martin del Potro in the final.
Meanwhile, former world No. 11 Schwartzman is set for a Beijing debut as, in his lone appearance at the Chinese tournament in 2016, he failed to clinch a main draw spot through the qualifying after losing in his qualifying opener to Konstantin Kravchuk.
Basilashvili and Schwartzman won't have an easy job in Beijing this year as Andy Murray, Dominic Thiem, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Daniil Medvedev, Karen Khachanov, Fabio Fognini and Felix Auger-Aliassime are also expected to play at the tournament.
