World No. 10 Roberto Bautista Agut and rising Australian star Jordan Thompson have been named alternates for the Laver Cup. Bautista Agut, 31, and 25-year-old Thompson have never taken part in the Laver Cup. The third edition of Laver Cup is set to be held next week in Geneva and once again it will feature Team Europe versus Team World.
Team Europe, led by Captain Bjorn Borg and Vice Captain Thomas Enqvist, will be represented by Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Fabio Fognini. On the other side, Captain John McEnroe and Vice Captain Patrick McEnroe will be hoping to lead Team World consisting of John Isner, Milos Raonic, Taylor Fritz, Nick Kyrgios, Denis Shapovalov and Jack Sock to a win over Team Europe.
Spain's Bautista Agut will make his Laver Cup debut if a Team Europe player withdraws, while Thompson will be ready to jump in if a Team World player pulls out. Team Europe will be aiming to keep its perfect record against Team World as they ended on the winning side in Prague two years ago and Chicago last year respectively.
