French tennis star Lucas Pouille, 25, won't be making his second appearance at the Stockholm Open as he has withdrawn from the tournament. Pouille, a five-time ATP champion, debuted at the Stockholm event last year. The Frenchman was one of the biggest names in the 2018 Stockholm Open player field but he failed to impress in his debut.
Back then, former world No. 10 Pouille exited the event early following a first round loss suffered against USA's Tennys Sandgren. Pouille, now ranked at No. 22 in the world, is set to take a break after playing four tournaments in as many weeks.
The Frenchman recovered from a set down to beat Zhe Li in the Shanghai Masters first round this week, before falling short against John Isner in his next match. Meanwhile, a place in the Stockholm main draw has opened for New York Open runner-up Brayden Schnur.
Schnur, who is enjoying a break season on the Tour, is set to make his debut on the indoor-hard courts of Stockholm next week.
