Rising Swedish stat Elias Ymer has received the last Stockholm Open wildcard, the tournament announced on Saturday. The 23-year-old is set to make his fifth main draw appearance on the indoor-hard courts of Stockholm. "Elias Ymer is fully recovered from his injury and receives the last wildcard into main draw of (the) Intrum Stockholm Open.
The other two wild cards have been given to Mikael Ymer and Grigor Dimitrov," the tournament announced via its Facebook page. Ymer, ranked at No. 122 in the world, failed to make it past the Stockholm qualifying event in 2012 and 2013.
However, the Swede didn't have to wait for too long to make his Stockholm debut as he debuted at the tournament in 2014 after being granted a main draw wildcard. Ymer picked up back-to-back first round exits at the Stockholm Open in 2014 and 2016, before making the round-of-16 in his last two appearances at the tournament.
Ymer, who achieved a career-high ranking of No. 105 in the world this year, is set to play his first tournament since falling short in the US Open qualifying in August. Ymer is enjoying a breakthrough season on the Tour this year and he will certainly be aiming to achieve his best result at the Stockholm Open next week.
