The 28th edition of the Open 13 Provence in Marseille will take place at the Palais des sports de Marseille between February 17-23, 2020, promising to be a memorable one. The event kicked off back in 1993, with Boris Becker, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Robin Soderling, Juan Martin del Potro and Nick Kyrgios among notable champions, with a powerful field of players trying to get on the list in four months.
The organizers have been working hard on shaping up the most energetic entry list for the next edition, signing eight great players who should be among the title favorites if they bring their best tennis. After the US Open finalist Daniil Medvedev, another top-10 star Karen Khachanov and the three-time champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, they went for two young Canadians, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov before adding David Goffin and Benoit Paire to the party.
They will all try to go all the way but the road will lead over the defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas who has confirmed his participation at the Open 13 for the fourth consecutive year. World no. 7 lost in the first round in Marseille in 2017 and 2018 before heading all the way last February, toppling Hubert Hurkacz, Sergiy Stakhovsky and David Goffin to set the final clash against Mikhail Kukushkin that he won 7-5, 7-6 in just under two hours for the second ATP crown.
With two ATP titles and 45 victories, Stefanos has been one of the best players so far in 2019, securing the place at the ATP Finals in London for the first time and hoping to keep the form from Beijing and Shanghai, losing in the final in the Chinese capital before Daniil Medvedev halted his run in Shanghai.
