Ryan Harrison had no doubt hoped that he could make up for his early exit from the Wimbledon singles draw with some doubles wins, but that dream was also crushed on Monday. Harrison, teaming up with partner, Travis Rettenmaier, took on defending champions Jurgen Melzer and Philipp Petzscnher in a delayed first round doubles match.
Harrison and Rettenmaier took the first set in the tie-break, but lost the second, also in a tie-break. They went down an early break in the third set, but managed to recover to level the encounter at 4-4. Unfortunately, though they managed to get to 30-0 on their own server, Harrison and Rettenmaier lost the game, and soon the match followed 7-6, 6-7, 4-6. Harrison will now turn his attention to America’s upcoming Davis Cup tie.
