Rising South-Korean star Sonwoo Kwon is set to debut at the Kooyong Classic in January as he has signed up to play at the popular exhibition event the week before the Australian Open. Kwon, who enjoyed a breakthrough year on the Tour this past season, will be aiming to find his game and form early on in the new season as he will be aiming to continue his rise and improvement in 2020.
The 21-year-old will have a chance to compete against some of the best players in the world at the Kooyong Classic as Grigor Dimitrov, Marin Cilic, Borna Coric, Milos Raonic and Richard Gasquet are also expected to play at the event.
Kwon, ranked at No. 88 in the world, will be hoping to earn a few notable wins in Kooyong and enter the Australian Open as he will be seeking his maiden Grand Slam win at Melbourne Park. The South-Korean won two Challenger titles this past season in Seoul, reached a career-high ranking of No.
81 in the world, while his best result at the ATP level came in Los Cabos -- where he made the quarterfinals as a qualifier.
