The fifth edition of the Abierto de Tenis Mifel presentado por Cinemex in Loso Cabos will go on between July 20-25, offering one of the most significant prize money among the ATP 250 events. Staged in the same weeks with Umag and Gstaad, Los Cabos is the first opportunity for the hard-courters to hit their favorite surface and prepare for the upcoming events in Washington, Toronto and Cincinnati, especially if they decided to skip the Olympic Games in Tokyo that start in the next week.

The organizers have confirmed the first players for the 2020 edition, with former top-10 stars Grigor Dimitrov and John Isner leading the field. The Bulgarian returns to Los Cabos for the second straight year, prevailing against Steve Johnson in the first round last summer after two and a half hours before losing in straight sets to Guido Pella.

Dimitrov was off to a mediocre start of the season, losing early at the Australian Open, Montpellier and Rotterdam before reaching the semi-final in Acapulco, losing to Rafael Nadal 6-3, 6-2 and heading to Indian Wells for the first Masters 1000 event of the season.

World no. 21 John Isner will make a debut in Los Cabos, deciding to skip the Olympic Games and focus on his beloved hard-court swing. Just like Dimitrov, Isner couldn't find the rhythm in the first couple of events in 2020 before advancing into the last four in Acapulco where he wasted a massive lead against Taylor Fritz, missing the opportunity to compete against Nadal in the final.

Ivo Karlovic was the inaugural champion in Los Cabos, followed by Sam Querrey who took down Thanasi Kokkinakis to lift the trophy in 2017. Fabio Fognini defeated Juan Martin del Potro in 2018 while Diego Schwartzman ousted Taylor Fritz last summer to grab the first ATP title outside clay.
