Just like Dimitrov, Isner couldn't find the rhythm in the first couple of events in 2020 before advancing into the last four in Acapulco where he wasted a massive lead against Taylor Fritz, missing the opportunity to compete against Nadal in the final.
Ivo Karlovic was the inaugural champion in Los Cabos, followed by Sam Querrey who took down Thanasi Kokkinakis to lift the trophy in 2017. Fabio Fognini defeated Juan Martin del Potro in 2018 while Diego Schwartzman ousted Taylor Fritz last summer to grab the first ATP title outside clay.
