American John Isner, the top seed, and German veteran Tommy Haas, the second seed, won in straight sets on Thursday to reach the quarter-finals of the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships. Isner hit 15 aces in a straight sets win over Japan's Go Saeda 7-6(2), 6-2 while 34 year old Haas, now ranked no.

18 in the world, defeated Denis Istomin 6-4, 6-1 in just over an hour. Haas will now meet Croatian Ivan Dodig, who beat Evgeny Donskoy 6-3, 7-5, while Isner will meet defending champion Kevin Anderson, who beat Yen-Hsun Lu 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in his first event back since elbow surgery earlier in the year.

Third seed American Sam Querrey was knocked out by former world no. 21 Ernests Gulbis in a third set tie-breaker 6-4, 4-6, 7-6(4), Gulbis fought back form 0-4 down in the third set and also broke his racket at one point in the match.

Gulbis will take on fellow qualifier Daniel Munoz-De La Nava, who upset two time former champion Xavier Malisse 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-3. American rising star Jack Sock was beaten by Rocardis Berankis 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. .
