ATP Dubai - Mahesh Bhupathi beats Rohan Bopanna in clash of former partners to reach final

In a clash between former doubles partners, it was Mahesh Bhupathi who came out on top over fellow Indian Rohan Bopanna at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Friday. Bhupathi, who has been playing with Daniel Nestor this season, is partnering with French player Michael Llodra this week and the two defeated Rohan Bopanna and Rajeev Ram to reach the championship match on Saturday.

This will be Bhupathi's first ATP final of the 2013 season. The Indo-French duo defeated Bopanna and Rajeen Ram 6-4 6-7 (2) 10-5 in 88 minutes. The duo will now meet third seeds Robert Lindstedt and Nenand Zimonjic in the final.

The third seeds defeated Mikhail Youzhny and Jonathan Erlich 7-6 (2) 7-6 (2) in over one hour and 45 minutes, Bhupathi and Bopanna played on the ATP circuit last season and also combined to represent India atthe Olympics inspite of initial resistence from the AITA.

The two have since been banned for selection in the Davis Cup. .
