Tennis - Americans Jack Sock and Coco Vandeweghe headline the field at the Oracle Challenger Series tennis tournament, a combined ATP Challenger Tour and WTA Tour $125K event, which runs at the Newport Beach Tennis Club from January 21st to January 27th.
Sock who has won thee Grand Slam doubles titles, and Vandeweghe, a doubles Grand Slam champion as well, are both former Top 10 players. The men's field features 16 American players, including Sock, Bradley Klahn, Christopher Eubanks, JC Aragone, Ernesto Escobedo, Bjorn Fratangelo, Christian Harrison, Evan King, Mitchell Krueger, Michael Mmoh, Dennis Novikov, Tommy Paul, Noah Rubin, Mackenzie McDonald, Reilly Opelka and Donald Young.
The women's field includes Vandeweghe, former World No. 5 Eugenie Bouchard, Americans Sofia Kenin, Lauren Davis, Jessica Pegula, Sachia Vickery, Christina McHale, Francesco Di Lorenzo, Madison Brengle, Taylor Townsend, Nicole Gibbs, Varvara Lepchenko, Claire Liu, Allie Kiick, Danielle Lao, Jamie Loeb, Kristie Ahn, Robin Anderson and Gail Brodsky.
Launched in late 2017, the Oracle Challenger Series was established to support up-and-coming American tennis players secure both ranking points and prize money. Each tournament in the Series is classified as WTA 125 and ATP World Tour Challenger events, with prize money allocated equally at $150,000 per Tour per event.
