In an interview to Sky Sport, Borna Coric explained why Andy Murray, Juan Martin del Potro, Stan Wawrinka have a shot at winning a Grand Slam in 2019. They all have triumphed in at least one Major in the previous years, and they are coming back from some tough injuries.
Coric believes tennis is an unpredictable game. 'If you have won a Grand Slam, you can always win it again', the 22-year-old told Sky Sport. 'That's tennis: it's a particular sport, you do not know what's gonna happen, it does not matter if you are number one, five or 20.
When Cilic won a Grand Slam he was tenth, I am not sure. So yeah, they can win it with some good preparation, being healthy and playing good tennis.' On the new tennis rules, Coric said he likes the shot clock, which is set to be introduced in all the nine Masters 1000 starting by next year.
'It gives more speed to tennis, it's also better for the players. It's a little bit faster. We know how much time we have, while before I was afraid to get a warning. Without a shot clock, you do not know how much time you have.
I have the pressure to play faster. I liked it during the US Open. Obviously, you have to be flexible because in such a hot tournament like US Open you may need a few more seconds but for me it was perfect', concluded Coric.
