Swiss Indoors Stan Wawrinka posted a picture on Instagram of himself and a big teddy bear sitting at the same table and Great Britain's Andy Murray saw an ideal opportunity to make a joke. As many other, three-time Grand Slam champion Wawrinka is also spending his time at home as the coronavirus pandemic continues to be a huge problem worldwide.
The 34-year-old Swiss captioned his photo: "Got my quarantine Saturday night date. What about you?" Murray, who is also a three-time Grand Slam champion, joked in the comment section as he wrote: "If people keep panic buying you might need to cook her in a couple of weeks."
Meanwhile, the ATP extended the Tour suspension through to June 07 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Wawrinka played three events this year, while Murray's hopes of potentially opening his season at the Miami Masters fell apart when the tournament got called off. "After careful consideration, and due to the continuing outbreak of COVID-19, all ATP and WTA tournaments in the Spring clay-court swing will not be held as scheduled.
This includes the combined ATP/WTA tournaments in Madrid and Rome, along with the WTA events in Strasbourg and Rabat and ATP events in Munich, Estoril, Geneva and Lyon," the ATP and WTA said in a joint statement. "The professional tennis season is now suspended through 7 June 2020, including the ATP Challenger Tour and ITF World Tennis Tour.
At this time, tournaments taking place from 8 June 2020 onwards are still planning to go ahead as per the published schedule."
