Casey Dellacqua Pulls Out Of Australian Open

Due to the lingering effects of a concussion suffered during the Beijing Open in October, doubles player, Casey Dellacqua has withdrawn from the Australian Open scheduled to take place next month. A statement from her manager Sam Maxwell revealed that Dellacqua is still suffering from the effects of the concussion suffered two months ago and has been diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome.

The injury has put the 30 year olds playing career at a risk as she is still not able to fully practice at the highest standards and still feeling the effects of the fall in Beijing. Maxwell also revealed that Dellacque still has neck pain and headaches which do not allow her to carry on playing.

"Still not in a position where she is able to train to the level required to be able to play professional tennis". Apart from the Australian Open, Dellacqua will also not be able to participate in the Sydney International and also play no part in the Hopman Cup as she was scheduled to partner Lleyton Hewitt in the mixed doubles event.
