Australia is not lacking motivation and is ready to get its campaign on a good tale, says Australian Davis Cup team captain Lleyton Hewitt. The green and gold team will be facing the Czech Republic in the World Group first-round tie at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club, February 3-5.
Hewitt has picked up Nick Kyrgios, Jordan Thompson, Sam Groth and doubles specialist John Peers to represent the home team in the tie. Bernard Tomic has pulled out and won't be suiting up for Australia. Former US Open champion Hewitt is glad with the lineup he has even though there's no Tomic in it.
''The team are hungry and eager to get Australia off to a good start in the World Group next week, and are looking forward to the match against the Czech Republic,'' Hewitt said, as quoted by Tennis Australia.
''To be at home on hardcourt at Kooyong will give us every opportunity to secure a win. ''Nick, Sam and John bring plenty of experience to the team, and we couldn’t be prouder to have Jordan Thompson in the fold.
To put on the green and gold for Australia’s Davis Cup team is very special and just the beginning for Jordan.'' Source: Tennis Australia Also read: Mark Philippoussis not interested in coaching Nick Kyrgios or anyone else
