Nick Kyrgios: 'Juan Martin del Potro is a legend'

Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios was in good spirits after his exhibition clash against Juan Martin del Potro.

Home-favorite del Potro handed a loss to the Australian in Buenos Aires.

It was Kyrgios first match since Antwerp as he finished his 2017 campaign earlier than expected due to a hip injury.

"I feel good. You know it's been a lot of time since I played a match. To come here and play against a great player like's a lot of fun and I felt good. The crowd was awesome. It was a good experience and I would love to do it again," Kyrgios said after the match.

Kyrgios complimented heavily 2009 US Open champion and last year's Davis Cup champion del Potro.

A now healthy Del Potro has climbed up to No. 11 in the world after a series of wrist injuries.

"Yeah, he is a legend. He is a Grand Slam champion. He has done a lot for the game. It's just good to see him back. After having so many injuries -- to see him back to the top -- he is going to have a great year. He is a really good guy," Kyrgios said about del Potro.

Kyrgios was plagued by a hip injury the whole year as he eventually decided to call it a season after a round-of-16 loss suffered to Ruben Bemelmans in Antwerp.

The 22-year-old ended runner-up at the Cincinnati Masters and beat twice Novak Djokovic and once Rafa Nadal this year.

"Yeah, it was fun. A lot of ups and a lot of downs. But I thought I had a pretty good year. Hopefully next year I can stay a bit more injury-free and play a lot more tournaments," Kyrgios confessed.
