Australian tennis player Omar Jasika has received a two-year ban after testing positive for cocaine last December in Melbourne.. The 21-year-old hasn't played since losing in the quarter-final of a Futures event at the beginning of March.

Jasika drew attention to his name exactly four years ago when he beat French Quentyn Halys in the 2014 US Open boys' singles final. However, the Australian's career since turning professional hasn't gone the way many hoped it would.

The 21-year-old has spent the majority of his career playing the Futures and Challenger level tournaments. Jasika won two Futures title before he won his maiden Challenger title in Burnie last year. Jasika, who has fallen to No.

572 in the world, reached his career-high ranking of No. 239 last year. The 21-year-old made his Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open two years ago after he was handed a wildcard for the tournament by Tennis Australia. Back then, the Australian beat Ukraine's Iliya Marchenko in the first round to clinch his maiden Grand Slam before he lost to 2008 Australian Open runner-up No Wilfried Tsonga in the second round.

Jasika's second Grand Slam appearance came last year -- when he suffered a straight-set defeat against former world No. 3 David Ferrer in the Australian Open first round. The Australian will be eligible to return to action in March 2019.
