Rising Australian star Alex de Minaur is excited about playing at the Adelaide International as he hopes to make it all the way at the event and have a perfect preparation for the Australian Open. After being absent from the ATP Tour calendar for over a decade, the city of Adelaide is set to once again host an ATP event and welcome to the city some of the best players in the world.
De Minaur, who is enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 18 in the world, made five finals this past season and claimed titles on three occasions. The 20-year-old will be aiming for a strong result in Adelaide from January 13-19 but it won't be easy as 16-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic has also confirmed his participation at the event.
"I am looking forward to playing at the Adelaide International in January,” de Minaur said, per Tennis TourTalk. “2019 has been an exciting year so I am hoping to continue this form in the lead up to the 2020 Australian Open.
“I have heard a lot about the redevelopment happening at Memorial Drive. It is going to be really special to be a part of the first tournament held under the roof and I think we will see lots of Aussie fans coming to support this new event”.
