Former Italian tennis player Adriano Panatta admitted that he was not particularly attracted to Carlos Alcaraz's style of play. Panatta is expressing in these days his opinions of many tennis players, including his countryman Matteo Berrettini and Jannik Sinner.

He explained: "Personally, he does not pass on almost anything to me in terms of tennis, but he has two indisputable qualities: he is extremely strong and continuous. He can win many Grand Slams." Alcaraz became the youngest number one in history after winning his first career Slam at the US Open.

The Spanish young star has surpassed even the rosiest expectations this season and has shown that he can play on par with legends of the caliber of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. Suffice it to say that at the Mutua Madrid Open 2022 he managed to beat both of them at the end of two incredible matches.

The 2003-born tennis player won the ATP 500 tournament in Rio de Janeiro before stealing the show in Miami, where he lifted the first Masters 1000 to the skies.

Alcaraz then signed a new double in Barcelona and Madrid.

The Spaniard, to the sound of winning and fantastic recoveries, finally took it all at the US Open by winning the first Major and reaching the top of the ATP ranking at the end of a tournament that saw him fight up to the fifth set on three occasions.

After the defeat suffered in the semifinals against Felix Auger-Aliassime in Basel, Alcaraz will play next week at the Masters 1000 in Paris-Bercy. The Spaniard will face one between Aslan Karatsev and Yoshihito Nishioka on his debut.

The first serious head on his path, on the other hand, bears the name and surname of Matteo Berrettini: the two could cross paths in the round of 16. The two major suspects to add to the quarter-finals in the same portion of the board as Alcaraz are Andrey Rublev and Hubert Hurkacz.

Daniil Medvedev and Auger-Aliassime were also placed at the top of the main draw. The two, before flying to Paris, will play the finals at the Vienna and Basel tournaments respectively.
