Carlos Alcaraz's 2023 ended with victory against Roberto Bautista Agut in the Carlos Alcaraz Cup exhibition match, in Murcia. The young Spaniard defeated his countryman 7-6 (1), 1-6 and 10-7 in almost two hours of play. One of the funniest episodes of the challenge and probably of the season occurred while Carlitos was preparing to serve, when a fan unexpectedly yelled a marriage proposal to the young Spaniard: "Carlitos, marry me!" Alcaraz laughed before resuming the match.

The match against Bautista and expectations for 2024

At the sports hall in Murcia full of crowds in the stands, Carlitos managed to beat his Spanish friend at the end of a super tie-break in the third set (10-7).

After winning the first set in the tie-break, Alcaraz suffered the reaction of Bautista Agut, who then surrendered in a rather hard-fought final. The Spanish tennis player, who will not have points to defend until the Australian Open, has the chance to get closer to Novak Djokovic, who leads the ATP ranking.

Alcaraz did not hide and continued to keep expectations high.

The revelation of the world number 2 occurred at the end of the exhibition match. "My goal for 2024 is to win another Grand Slam and a medal at the Paris Olympic Games.

If I had to choose just one, I would take the gold medal in France," he explained. Before the match against Bautista, Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic in the exhibition match, with the result of 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, in Riyadh. On the fast indoor surface of the Kingdom Arena, the 2-time slam champion was able to overcome the Serbian's initial advantage.

We recall Alcaraz will not play any official match untill the Australian Open 2024, which will be the first tournament of the upcoming season, for the Spanish tennis player. A same choice was made by the young Italian Jannik Sinner.
