Benoit Paire has received sharp criticism concerning his conduct following his first round match against Filippo Volandri in San Benedetto, Italy.
The world No.59 was the third seed in the ATP San Benedetto Tennis Cup, a Challenger event.
After taking the opening set against his Italian Opponent. He lost the second set before retiring early in the third. The reason for his withdrawal was not clear. The Frenchman, who recently reached the second round at Wimbledon, has been accused of deliberately tanking his match during the second set.
Highlights of his attitude on the court have been uploaded to YouTube. There is yet to be any comment from Paire or the tournament concerning his actions. Earlier on this month Nick Kyrgios was also accused of tanking during his Wimbledon 4th round match against Richard Gasquet, an allegation which he denies.
