Austin Peay women's team defeats Queens 6-1!

The Austin Peay State University women's tennis team earned the program's first ASUN Conference victory in a 6-1 victory against Queens on Friday, at the Leving Tennis Center. The Austin Peay State University women's tennis team travels to Sunshine State for a 9:00 CT Sunday game against North Florida at the UNF Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Florida.
As reported by the Austin Peay State University, the women's team earned its seventh straight win in Friday's win against Queens and combined to outscore their opponents 41-6 in that span. The APSU Governors won the double point for the seventh straight game after a pair of commanding wins from the top two.
Jana Leder and Melody Hefti won a convincing match, 6-1 from first position. The duo have won six of their last seven games together from No. 1 and is now 10-3 this season. After Leder and Hefti reclaimed their early doubles lead, Denise Torrealba and Sophia Baranov improved to 7-0 from the No.
2 position this season following their 6-3 victory. Yu-Hua Cheng and Asia Fontana left their match from court no. 3 while leading 5-3. Cheng extended the APSU Govs lead early in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Queens' Kelsey Sinclaire, while Hefti earned her sixth straight win in a 6-2, 6- 0 put the APSU within one point of winning.
The Royals' only point of the afternoon came from first place where Katsiaryn Tulikova beat Leder in a pair of sets 6-3; however, Baranov secured the win with her team-best 11th straight singles victory. Nine of Baranov's 11 wins this season have come in straight sets.
With victory in hand, Fontana picked up her first ASUN win from the No. 6, while Torrealba came back after losing the first two sets to win 7-5, 10-1 in the second and third sets respectively.
