The Tigers will now look forward to the NCAA Tournament selections

Auburn University women's tennis team was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament after a thrilling loss to Tennessee on Friday night at the Magill Tennis Complex in Athens.

With the loss, Auburn exits the SEC Championship with a 16-10 record. The Tigers will now wait selection show on April 29 that will be streamed at 5:30 p.m. CT on NCAA.com.

In doubles, Adeline Flach and Angella Okutoyi beat Alana Wolfberg and Esther Adeshina 6-1. Flach and Okutoyi jumped out to a 3-1 lead and won their next three straight games.

Ariana Arseneault and DJ Bennett earned breaks for the Tigers to take a 3-2 lead, but the Volunteers eventually came back to win 6-4 and claim the doubles point.

In singles, Carolyn Ansari won each of her first three matches on court one against Sofia Cabezas before winning the first set 6-4. On court five, Flach took an early 3-2 lead to win 6-3 in the first set. Bennett earned a first set over Elza Tomase and Okutoyi won her opening set in a tie break against Esther Adeshina.

Arseneault and Ava Esposito Cogan each lost their respective first sets in tie breaks. Flach dominated in her second set over Lauren Anzalotta to win 6-3, 6-4 and tie the team score at one. After the tiebreak win in the first set, Angella Okutoyi won the final three games of her second set consecutively to defeat Adeshina 7-6 (7), 6-3 to give the Tigers the lead.

Bennett scored her third straight singles victory on court two, overcoming a 5-3 deficit to claim the set and win the match 6-4, 7-5. Tennessee then earned a set victory on court three. Cabezas won her second set over Ansari to force a third set, while Ava Esposito Cogan won 6-2 in the second set to force.

Britez-Rizzo ultimately won the match 6-7 (7), 2-6, 6-4 to clinch the victory for the Volunteers.
