Benjamin Lock Beats No. 4 Julian Lenz in Malibu

Malibu, Calif. (Tallahassee) – Florida State senior Benjamin Lock opened the second day of the Oracle/ITA Masters event at the Malibu Racquet Club with a 6-4, 6-2 win over No. 4 Julian Lenz of Baylor. The win advanced Lock, ranked No.

25 in the preseason ITA rankings, into the consolation semifinals. The straight-set victory represents the highest opponent ranking in a win for Lock. It also pitted players ranked fourth (Lock) and fifth (Lenz) in the ATP standings among current college players.

In the semifinals, Lock lost 6-1, 6-2 against No. 2 Ryan Shane of Virginia. In doubles, No. 7 Lock and Marco Nunez, coming off a win against Lenz and Max Tchoutakian in the first round on Friday, fell 6-3, 6-2 to No. 2 Shane and Luca Corinteli in the semifinals.
